There is incredible breadth amongst definitions of "Apocalyptic Fiction." For our purposes, we have provided a variety of selections -- from political to thrillers to theological. Though acknowledging that "post-apocalyptic" can be considered its own genre, we have included some selections/series that continue on past an apocalyptic event.
Our Criteria? A great story, well told, and containing a valuable message/lesson for our time. We have a preference towards the thought-provoking and those stories include some form of theological reflection -- though without being "preachy". The books listed have either been read by our staff or critically reviewed by trusted sources.

Supernatural -- Suspense/Thriller -- Philosophical/Theological -- Political -- Prophetic THE DOMINION PROJECT: Described as "A supernatural thriller with religious and geopolitical themes," this seven-book series weaves vivid supernatural imagery within contemporary geopolitical scenarios, all viewed through the eyes and experiences of characters of diverging beliefs and backgrounds. It is offered as a challenge to the "conventional evangelical Christian end-times scenario" which has been prevailing in recent years, as well as a sort of "literary antidote" to the increasingly popular books and films which promote disinformation and misunderstanding into the nature and history of the Christian Church. It is the author's hope that Dominion is entertainment that is edifying for the faithful and thought-provoking for the skeptic. |

Supernatural -- Suspense/Thriller -- Dark Fantasy THE DARK TOWER SERIES has been described as Stephen King's "Magnum Opus". For "faithful" Stephen King readers, it can be a delight to discover many characters from other Stephen King novels woven into this story. Though hard to classify, we include this within the genre of "Post-Apocalyptic Fiction"... and have also included "The Stand", which is definitely apocalyptic, and in some ways can be considered a "prequel" to the Dark Tower series. |
